ITI or the Industrial Training Institutes function under the DGET (Directorate General of Employment and Training) and provide vocational training to students. The aim of these courses is to encourage students to start small-scale businesses and create job opportunities by providing proper industry competitive skill. Industrial Training Institute – Talaja was established in 2008. New campus building was inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister Shri Saurabhbhai Patel (Finance Minister) in 2015.

About Rotary Club of Rajkot Midtown Charitable Trust

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united world wide, who provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help goodwill and peace in the world. They have started organization in 1995 with Rs. 1000 and till today they have donated more than Rs. 20 corers to the people in and around Rajkot city and rural areas.

30 dedicated members established this club in 1995-96 Phenomenal growth to 105 in 5 years. Unique fellowship and service club which is recipient of many distinguished awards from the District and Rotary International. It has set a new Record of seeking 21 Matching Grants from the Rotary Foundation in year 2000-2001. Club has received two 3-H Grants to construct Rotary Midtown Lapasari Dam & Rotary Midtown Vasahat for earthquake affected families.

They have executed project with 7 focus areas: 1. Peace and Conflict Prevention / Resolution 2. Disease Prevention and Treatment 3. Water and Sanitation 4. Maternal and Child Health 5. One year Education and Literacy 6. Economic and Community Development 7. Environment protection.

Background of project executed

Diabetes is systematic, life style Disease which is lifelong. Awareness is sorely missing and the lifelong treatment is huge financial burden for lower middle class and below poverty line patients. Mortality and morbidities are massive. Worldwide, more than 366 million People are affected by Diabetes and 4.6 million deaths every year. More than 62 million Indians are diabetic causing 1 million Deaths every Year. According to the latest NJCM report, 9% of Urban Gujarat and 4% Rural Gujarat Population is already diabetic and surprisingly 42% of cases are undetected.

Our Mission is to prevent, treat and manage Diabetes & other lifestyle diseases and with the Vision to provide truly world class health care to diabetic patients at nominal charges, we have established Rotary Midtown Diabetes Prevention & Management Centre – A comprehensive ultramodern Diabetes Management Centre.

Objectives of CSR Project

• To prevent, treat and manage Diabetes & other lifestyle diseases
• To help to the socio-economically deprived patients in and around Rajkot by examining and evaluating patients, provide laboratory assessment and offer expert advice on diet, exercises and management of Diabetes and related diseases, at highly subsidized costs or even free at times.
• To designed a complete year-long treatment of diagnostic tests and treatment for various parts of body which are affected by diabetes.
• To identify and treat around 275 patients who are need based and coming from low-income group for whom the treatment is huge financial burden.
• To take care and concern of the less privileged is a core contribution and focus.

Geographical area of execution of project and reason for selecting that area

They shall be looking around for the patients in and around Rajkot District as urban lifestyle is one of the major causes of the disease. Also, regular monthly visit for consulting Diabetologist and Dietician is highly recommended and part of our proposed one-year treatment.

Beneficiaries

As per the proposed plan, to offer 1 year of one year treatment of diagnostic tests and treatment for various parts of body which are affected by diabetes who are not financially sound to take the burden of the treatment and to offer this treatment to around 275 patients who are diabetic and cannot afford due to low income. 275 Beneficiaries with cost of 4000 per beneficiary i.e 275*4000 = Rs. 11,00,000/- (Rupees Eleven Lakh Only)

Monitoring Mechanism

The hospital is equipped with HMS (Hospital Management System) and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) which gives the required reports and stores all the data of every patient. Hence, monthly submission of reports and other details as required will be provided by the Rotary Club of Rajkot Midtown Charitable Trust.

Sustainability Plan

During the span of this project and also as part of the annual treatment they have introduced the series of Educative Seminars all-round the year which educates the patient and their family members about how to combat with the curse of Diabetes. Since this is the life style disease and our goal is to make the patient believe that diabetes can be controlled easily and if it is controlled, he will live healthy. We want to educate and demonstrate them over this 1 year to control diabetes and stay healthy for his whole life.
